Dr. Lisa Cooper Meets with President Biden and Vice President Harris

CHE Director, Lisa Cooper, MD, MPH, a member of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST), is working alongside some of the nation's most "distinguished individuals from industry, academia, and non-profit organizations" to make policy recommendations to the President and the White House. According to WhiteHouse.gov, PCAST “is an independent Federal Advisory Committee comprised of distinguished individuals from industry, academia, and non-profit organizations with a range of perspectives and expertise.  PCAST develops evidence-based recommendations for the President on matters involving science, technology, and innovation policy, as well as on matters involving scientific and technological information that is needed to inform policy affecting the economy, worker empowerment, education, energy, the environment, public health, national and homeland security, racial equity, and other topics.”

On March 18, 2022, Dr. Cooper, along with other researchers and patients, met with President Joe Biden to discuss the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), a health research agency that seeks to accelerate progress on curing cancer and additional health innovations.
