The Center for Health Equity is thrilled to announce a collaboration between MacArthur Fellows CHE Director Dr. Lisa A. Cooper and visual artist LaToya Ruby Frazier, who are teaming up with Dr. Chidinma Ibe, Dr. Anika L. Hines, Mrs. Tiffany Scott, the chair of the Maryland Community Health Worker Association, and Reverend Debra Hickman, President and CEO of Sisters Together and Reaching, Inc (STAR). To honor Baltimore’s community health workers (CHWs), a storytelling, photographic art installation will serve as a monument to recognize the labor and lived experiences of CHWs during the Covid-19 pandemic, and their longstanding efforts on the front lines serving their communities.

Through science, research, interviews, and methodologies from Photovoice to aerial and contemporary art portraiture, this collaboration between scientists, CHWs, an artist and a reverend will culminate in a touring exhibition in 2022 from Pittsburgh to New York City and Baltimore, then on to locations in Europe and Africa. Stay tuned!
