On Wednesday, September 22, 2021, President Joe Biden announced his new 30-member Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). In the press release shared by the White House, you can learn a bit more about the history of PCAST. “A direct descendant of the scientific advisory committee established by President Eisenhower in 1957 in the weeks after the launch of Sputnik, PCAST is the soul body of external advisors charged with making science, technology, and innovation policy recommendations to the President and the White House.”

We are excited to announce that our Center Director Dr. Lisa Cooper is among the 30 listed as members hand-picked by the President. Dr. Cooper will sit with five fellow MacArthur “Genius” Fellows chosen to participate on this prestigious advisory board. The most diverse PCAST cohorts to date, Dr. Cooper plans to use this opportunity to advocate for health equity at the highest level of United States policy. Please join us in congratulating our Director on this exciting achievement!
